The problem is caused by IE9's compatibility mode feature, turning this off resolves the issue. You might not find the IE9 compatibility mode icon in the address bar though for some reason (in my case anyway) - here's a quick fix;
- In IE9, while logged into your Gmail maibox, hit F12
- Choose Browser Mode: IE9 on the bottom toolbar
- Choose Internet Explorer 9
Brilliant !!! You saved the day. Now to figure out why my links wont open...like google calander from the gmail screen, or opening new tabs for photo albums on Facebook....it gives me a white screen. Any thoughts?

ReplyDeleteI have turned it off, but everytime I go back to GMail, it's back in compatibility mode and I have to turn it off again. Grrrrrrr....
ReplyDeleteThank-you...I have never posted anything online and this has been troubling me for weeks, so I feel the need to cyber-hug you!
ReplyDeleteI and several others report the following:
ReplyDeleteI have turned it off, and everything looks good.
But everytime I go back to GMail (say after reboting the computer), GMail is back in compatibility mode and I have to turn it off again.
So the next big question is:
HOW DO I GET THE-COOL-FIX TO STICK???
Same issue, IE9 always uses Compatibility View in Gmail now. I can fix it manually but the very next time I go to Gmail, it's back to Compatibility View.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!!
ReplyDeleteHello,
